About the Melbourne Municipal Band
The Melbourne Municipal Band, established in 1965, plays free
concerts for the citizens of Brevard County nearly every month, and also
contributes to the community through parades, patriotic concerts and
ceremonial performances. Some 30 percent of the band's 80-plus members
are professional musicians. In a typical year, the band serves 69,000
concert attendees and its members give 27,000 hours of community service
in the form of rehearsals and performance time.
Swingtime is the 18 to 21-piece "Big Band" dance ensemble of the MMB,
playing music from the 1920s to the 1970s. The for-hire band features
saxophones, trombones, trumpets, a piano, guitar, bass and trap set,
along with two vocalists and a conductor/announcer.
Brevard County Manatees
The Hometown team of the Brevard County Manatees plays baseball at Space Coast Stadium located in Viera. A member of the Florida State League, Brevard County is the Minor League High-A Affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. The Manatees have played baseball every spring and summer since 1994 and with kids of all ages enjoying award-winning promotions, hardball under the lights and the opportunity to meet future major leaguers.
Those wishing to catch a Manatees game can do so April through the beginning of September with various fireworks shows, concerts and special events held in conjunction with the 70 home games. Fans will enjoy the perks of free parking, general admission seating, a free kids’ zone and an arcade at all Manatees games. Grab your mitt and a friend, call the Manatees office and catch America’s pastime in the heart of Brevard County.
Space Coast Stadium is located in Viera, west of Interstate 95 at either Exit #191 or #195 on Stadium Parkway. Season tickets are always available for the Manatees season as well as individual game tickets.
